Design and guidance of a multi-active debris removal mission

چکیده

Abstract Space debris have become exceedingly dangerous over the years as number of objects in orbit continues to increase. Active removal (ADR) missions gained significant interest effective means mitigating risk collision between space. This study focuses on developing a multi-ADR mission that utilizes controlled reentry and deorbiting. The comprises two spacecraft: Servicer brings low altitude Shepherd rendezvous with later perform reentry. A preliminary design tool (PMDT) was developed obtain time fuel optimal trajectories for proposed while considering effect J 2 , drag, eclipses, duty cycle. PMDT can such trajectory optimizations multi-debris computational under minute. Three guidance schemes are also studied, taking solution reference validate methodology provide solutions this complex profile.

Digital Currency Design for Sustainable Active Debris Removal in Space

Orbital debris remains as an obstacle to further space development. While efforts are ongoing to avoid newly launched objects becoming debris, the number of debris would still continue to grow because of collisions. ADR (Active Debris Removal) is an effective measure, but building a sustainable economic model for ADR remains as a difficult problem. We propose that the cost of removal can be pai...

Active Orbital Debris Removal Using Space Robotics

One of the main technical challenge in orbital debris removal (ODR) missions is how to capture a tumbling and drifting space object given several environmental and operational constraints. This paper focuses on the guidance of a robot manipulator in a preand postgrasp phases to capture and stabilize a drifting and tumbling space object with uncertain dynamics. A Kalman filter is used to estimat...

Results of Prisma / Ffiord Extended Mission and Applicability to Future Formation Flying and Active Debris Removal Missions

Several experiments have been performed by CNES during the extended PRISMA mission which started in August 2011. A first session in October 2011 addressed two objectives: (1) demonstrate angles-only navigation to rendezvous with a non cooperative object, (2) exercise transitions between RF based and vision based control during final formation acquisition. A complementary experiment in September...

Multiple Space Debris Collecting Mission - Debris selection and Trajectory optimization

A possible mean to stabilize the LEO debris population is to remove each year 5 heavy debris like spent satellites or launchers stages from that space region. This paper investigates the ΔV requirement for such a Space Debris Collecting mission. The optimization problem is intrinsically hard since it mixes combinatorial optimization to select the debris among a list of candidates and functional...
